Accomplish Your Health & Fitness Goals!

Recently I set a goal to ride my bike up Maui's Haleakala, a 10,000 ft. climb up 36 miles - accomplishing this goal was one of the hardest things I have done in my life, but completely worth it!

I encourage my patients to do the following when setting goals:

Be smart about setting health & wellness goals - be specific and define exactly what it is you want to do.

Make sure you can measure your progress - for me the mile markers let me know how close I was.

Make sure that your goal is attainable - how will you know when it is accomplished (for me it was reaching the top of the mountain!)

Make sure your goal is reasonable - I cycling and cardio is a big part of my regular exercise routine, and I increased my training specifically for this ride during the upcoming weeks. This goal was reasonable for me to set, but make sure you are not setting goals that are unattainable.

Make sure you set a date and time to reach your goal - and define specific steps to make sure you can do it.

Give yourself the support you need - There comes a point along the way where you may be challenged on every level – do not give up, make sure you have the support you need to push through.

When I stopped at the sign above, I felt great! 11 miles from the top, though, the ride got really, really tough, I had to use everything I had to get to the top. Fellow cyclists and tourists at the top were cheering me on as I got closer – that really helped!

Tell me what your health goals are for October and receive 20% your next visit! Schedule now!
